We want every family to leave with more than a puppy—we want them to feel prepared, supported, and confident as they begin life with their new American Akita.

Reservations

Families can join our waitlist by completing an application and placing a $300 non-refundable reservation deposit. Puppy selections are made in reservation order, while also considering each family’s preferences, lifestyle, experience, and the individual temperament of the puppies.

Our goal is to help each family choose a puppy that is a good fit for their home and expectations.

    Complete an adoption inquiry form to begin your journey to companionship.

  2. Interview

    Phone or video chats to ensure a good match.

  3. Deposit

    Reserve your puppy’s spot by securing your place on the waitlist.

  4. Match

    We pair puppies and families based on compatibility and needs.

  5. Go-Home Day

    Welcome home your new best friend and start a lifetime of memories.

Our application is intentionally simple and gives us the basic information needed to start the process. The most important part comes next: a personal follow-up conversation where we learn more about the family, their experience, lifestyle, home environment, and what they are looking for in an American Akita.

Once we both feel the fit is right, approved families can join our reservation list with a $300 non-refundable deposit. From there, we stay in communication throughout the litter, provide updates, guide puppy selection, finalize the contract and balance, and coordinate pickup or transportation.

Getting your puppy home

Families may pick up their puppy directly from us in Cordova, Tennessee, or arrange transportation when needed. We offer nationwide shipping and can also coordinate ground transport, flight nanny services, or other agreed-upon delivery options based on the family’s location.

Our goal is to make the puppy’s trip home as safe, smooth, and stress-free as possible.

Guardian homes

We are currently developing a guardian-home program for select future breeding dogs. This program will allow carefully chosen families to raise and live with one of our dogs as their own while Briwder Kennels retains breeding rights for a limited period.

Guardian homes will be selected carefully and will receive clear expectations regarding health testing, veterinary care, breeding availability, communication, and long-term ownership. Once the dog completes its breeding obligations, full ownership will transfer to the guardian family.

Because we are still finalizing the program, complete requirements and eligibility details will be provided before placements begin.
